CyberSecurity: Journey, Culture and Strategy

It doesn't have to be a big stress in your life. You can have that peace of mind, but it does take time, attention, planning and strategy...

The Cybersecurity Journey

Cybersecurity is not typically one of those things that everybody's jumping up and down and saying, "I want to go do more with my cybersecurity".

Why?

Because it's oftentimes confusing, it can be frustrating, there are costs associated with it, and frankly, there are a lot more enjoyable things out there than trying to figure out how to cyber secure my business.

Well, the reality is that it's been a big issue and it's going to be a bigger issue as we go into 2021.

With COVID-19 in 2020, the bad actors and threats have increased astronomically. And there are so many more attacks going on right now and so many more breaches across all industries of organizations of all sizes.

Now, there is a lot of fear and doom and gloom around cybersecurity.

Well, and it's true. We have to be vigilant and diligent about doing what needs to be done to protect your organization.

But the reality is that it doesn't have to be a big stress in your life. You can have that peace of mind, but it does take time and attention and planning and strategy.

There's a cybersecurity journey that needs to be done and needs to be had and experienced, not just for you as a business owner, but as an organization, all employees, this is the cybersecurity culture.

  • 65% of all targeted attacks happen with spear phishing.

  • Intelligence gathering is the main reason for 96% of targeted attacks.

Hackers are Targeting Your Employees

Unfortunately, businesses are being hunted and they're going after your employees as the back door to get into your organization.

They don't focus on hacking technology; they focus on hacking people. If they can get an employee to engage or click or answer a phone call or divulge information that allows them to take that next step, they are actively doing that.

I mean, it is organized crime and there's a lot of money in it, and it will continue to be a problem as long as they're still making the billions of dollars that they are making.
