Tek Video: Endpoint Security vs. Antivirus

Endpoint Security and Antivirus. There's a big difference.

Antivirus only protects against known threats, and it must scan your computer. And in the old days, it was always "update… update virus definitions". You must update your antivirus software, so it knows what files to detect.

And it's just simply reactive in nature.

Endpoint Security

Advanced endpoint protection is very different. It uses artificial intelligence to check and monitor behavior and activity on your system.

It's not treated as an isolated system. It takes your whole organization in its entirety and looks for trends and activity across that organization. It analyzes and compares all the endpoint activity.

And then last, it’s also monitored 24/7 by a professional security operating center. They specifically look for that malicious activity and trend in what's going on.

Because guess when hackers usually hit the detonate button. Not at 8:00 AM, I'll tell you that. Not when we're bright and ready to go.

They do it on Labor Day, just as everybody's leaving for the weekend. They do it at 2:00 AM in the morning while everybody's sound asleep.

So, by the time the damage is done, it's already too late. There's no response.
