On November 30th, Apple released an urgent update, iOS 17.1.2, that aims to patch two possible security exploits documented in 17.1.1.
The issues relate to WebKit, Apple’s internet browser engine that enables Safari. The notes state that “processing web content may disclose sensitive information” and “may lead to arbitrary code execution.”
The new operating system, iOS 17, was initially released in November and featured new capabilities, like live voicemail and NameDrop, an easy way to share contacts.
Apple was expected to release iOS 17.2 later this month with new features and minor bug fixes, but security issues proved too pressing.
No new features are included in this update.
